[EP] ELNR Vol.1 is a sonic speculative fiction that explores unseen worlds, a self-healing process woven through sonic fiction, a planet shaped by invisible political and historical events, research-based reflections on humanity’s data domestication and information systems, and even a story about how to become a fish.

The World of Data
In modern society, information processed through algorithms and artificial intelligence has a profound impact on the world socially, economically, and politically. In the past, human labour was exploited under the ‘disciplinary regime,’ but today, in the ‘information regime,’ data and information are exploited by humans. In the disciplinary regime, the subject is aware that they are not free, but in the information regime, the subject deceives themselves into thinking they are free and active.
Humans continuously reproduce themselves. However, what is truly free is not the human but the information. The paradox of the information society is that people are restricted and standardised within information. In this piece, everything natural and pure, symbolised by white pearls and pure waves, is turned into data. As the track progresses, the instruments gradually transform into increasingly artificial sources, with the notes G# and A# representing the binary language of 0 and 1.

Let's Become a Fish
Falling midnight and the sunrise, between the cherry-coloured tiles. Inside a hazy summer, there is a foggy warm mind. Eighty-twenty-two fading circles. Before everything leaves- dry the fins thoughtfully… gently turn to white, and the tumultuous spring…

Ariadne’s thread
Transpierce the mountains instead of scaling them, excavate the land instead of striating it, bore holes in space instead of keeping it smooth, and turn the earth into Swiss cheese. An image from the film Strike [by Eisenstein] presents a holey space where a distributing group of people are rising, each emerging from his or her hole as if from a field in all directions. (Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, A Thousand Plateaus)
The trio of a broken piano, wine glasses, and singing bowls carries a melody about the world once more, and I documented this movement as an invisible documentary. I recorded the broken piano using a Zoom microphone and segmented the 12-minute performance to assign each segment to buttons on a launchpad. Similarly, I recorded the sounds of wine glasses, played at varying pitches by adjusting the water levels, and the sounds of singing bowls performed with different techniques. These recordings were also assigned to individual buttons on the launchpad, creating a sampler-based instrument. This sampler instrument captures the interplay between various physical objects (i): piano, singing bowls, and wine glasses, and the physical forces or events (ii): keys being pressed, bowls resonating, and glasses filled with water and made to resonate by fingers. I documented and analysed each event’s significance and playback by examining the interactions between i and ii and the resulting evidence of an unseen new world.

Philodendron
It’s been a series of heavy days. I hope the sound brings a little comfort. A world where philodendrons grow…
