The furniture company ERCOL was established by Lucian R. Ercolani in 1920, with a desire for a sustainable and well-designed company. By using North American elm and European ash, beech, oak and walnut from naturally regenerative forests. Ercol makes furniture and burns the remaining wood pieces, supplying energy to the factory. Traditional processing techniques such as steam bending and the use of machines give high-quality products and present the adventure between the past and the future to consumers.

Employing locals to their company, in a specialised group keeps part of their brand identity to supporting the town. In this music video, I focused on recreating Ercol’s atmosphere of wood with warmth, with their modern design. Each music and video was inspired by nu-jazz, lounge music and an abstract animator in the 19th century, Oscar Fischinger. They were a great example that combines past, present and future, with the warm and organic identity of Ercol. I also used Ercol’s past advertisement photoshoots to make shapes. Lastly, the B&W video from the Ercol factory represents the rich history of Ercol.
